Endah N Rhesa N Me

Akhir-akhir ini tampaknya saya jarang sekali posting tentang musik ya.
Oke-lah kalau begitu saya mau cerita tentang salah satu musisi Indonesia, yang masih saya hargai sehingga saya masih rela buat beli CD albumnya dan tidak membajak lagunya.

1. My First Glance with EaR
Lah,, piye iki,, nikahannya aja mboh kapan, gimana cara mau dapetin albumnya. Kecewa karena gak dapet copy-an lagu Perfect Afternoon, EaR pun kemudian terlupakan.

2. My Second Encounter with EaR
Beberapa bulan kemudian, ketika saya sedang berjalan-jalan di salah satu mall paling ramai di Jakarta Selatan, saya melihat ada album terbaru EaR "Look What We've Found". Mulai tertarik.
Kemudian teman saya pun nyolek dari belakang sambil bilang "Gue punya tuh, bagus banget".
I know that Endah and Rhesa are good musicians, with distinctive quality, tetapi mendengar rekomendasi teman membuat saya memantapkan hati untuk membeli album ini.
And yes! yes! yes! I love the album so much!

3. When We Seal the Deal
Apalagi dengan lagu "Waiting", lagu yang paling berkesan karena menemani masa-masa galau sebelum akhirnya sealing the deal with (now) my hubby. hahaha.
So now I got the perfect copy of Perfect Afternoon, and a new favorite song "You and I".

And I know they're the kind of musicians who dare to be different.

And that's the story of Endah N Rhesa N Me.
I look, I listen, I love.

p.s. for those of you who never heard of Perfect Afternoon. Here's a video of EaR singing Perfect Afternoon live from the Theater on the Bay Esplanade. Once you hear it, you just want to be with the one that makes it a perfect afternoon.

Nursery Rhymes (Indonesia Boleh Inggris Boleh)

Lagi bingung-bingungnya ngajak main my baby tiba-tiba nemu satu mainan baru di tumpukkan kado yang belum dibuka.

Jreng,,jreng,, Piano Portabel,,
Bagaikan ketemu segenggam emas deh,, Langsung pencet-pencet tuts nya buat nyanyi lagu anak-anak. My Baby pun juga hepi banget, kadang-kadang ber"au-au" seolah2 pengen ikutan nyanyi.

Udah ah,, mamak'e mau pencet2 piano portabel lagi. uhuyy,,

Day 4 - Dave Koz Make Me Smile

Nonton D'Sound juga puas, karena seolah2 bisa membaca pikiran saya, mereka memainkan dua lagu favorit saya"Do I Need A Reason" dan "People are People". Saya pun puas merekam LIVE performance mereka.
Ok, I admit, dia merupakan pemain lama di dunia musik, but Dave Koz is not just a good musician but a true performer. You Make Me Smile yang dimainkan Fave Koz & 57kustik benar2 membuat saya tersenyum. It made my night!!
And I have to share this with you.

Waking Up and Smelling The Coffee

I just had my birthday almost a week ago. Celebrating it by buying myself a ticket to the Cranberries concert. It was the best 280K IDR I ever spent on a concert. You can say that I grew up with The Cranberries songs around me. Who could forget their greatest hit Zombie? I might never really remember the lyrics word by word, but it was definitely haunting.
So The Cranberries warmed up the crowd with “Analyze”. It was just what I needed. I guess as we all grow older, we are becoming more of a dry sponge. Hard, stiff, resistant. And this song reminds me to be free. Free your mind, open up, be a sponge! Jamming my head while chanting words from the song, the midnight sky witness how I and other thousands Cranberries fans free our soul that night.
Don’t analyze, don’t go that way, don’t lead that way, that would paralyze your evolution.
Sometimes, we do overthink everything that happens to us. Because we know whatever we do today, will affect whatever will happen to us tomorrow. We worry too much, that we cease to live. We fear the future too much, that we chose to pause, think and do nothing instead. What’s keeping me away from whatever it is that lay in front of me is only the fear to make mistakes. Realizing that, now I’m just trying to embrace every moment. Happiness, sadness, troubles, way out, problems, whatever that is, I’m opening up my mind. I am not afraid.
I’m free to decide. And I choose to wake up and smell the coffee.
As the night turns darker, and the concert grew thrilling, I discover another song by this band. An old song I never notice. This one goes to whoever you are who’d be the one. Trust me, when it's out there, it's not coming back.
I’ll be here. I’ll be dreaming my dreams with you. And there’s no other place. That I’d lay down my face. I’ll be dreaming my dreams with you.
And the concert ends with another hit by The Cranberries which is also another favorite of mine, "Dreams". It's the only video I can get of the band that night. I was too busy singing along that I forgot to recorded them LIVE. And you know what I kinda understood why they put this as a closing song. Because Cranberries treated their fans as a dream to them. That the fans are everything to them. And it was the sweetest closing score they could ever give us.
ROCK ON CRANBERRIES!! IT WAS MY BEST BIRTHDAY EVER!! v(^^)v

p.s. pardon the blurry, shaky, and too much hand blocking videos. It was recorded using my not-so-smart phone, while dancing through the song though trapped between three giants who refuse to give me some space and let me have a clearer vision to the band.

Mayang on The Air : Today's Crave

it's a lazy sunday today.. but please enjoy Señor Happy with How Many Ways..
hopefully will brighten the rest of your Sunday, and recharge your hype for Monday. Cherios!!!

How many ways to say I love you?
How many ways to show you how much I care?
With you by my side, there is no denying it

Sun in your face is how I see you
Maybe make me feel warm when it's cold outside
Should I run and hide,
Then there's no denying

You as a young girl, want it it's true
You do it for me, I do it for you
We're taking nothing and turning it into something
I just wait for me and you

You as a young girl, want it it's true
You do it for me, I do it for you
We're taking nothing and turning it into something
I just wait for me and you

That just waits for me and you

And that just waits for me and you

I Can't wait for me and you

Why I'm (so damn) in Love with Jason

I always believe that music is a way to express feelings. For me, great musics are the one that can create moods. Just by listening to the intro you'll find that the air around you suddenly change. There's some addicting harmony that suffocates you. Yes.. suffocating, yet.. exhilarating.
I also believe, music with a good concept will come not only with great arrangements but great lyrics. Words and words that melt like chocolate in your mouth. Not only it rhymes, but kinda poetic and sarcastic. Sometimes it's like listening to a tall tale. And music should be telling stories, with or without words.
Why I'm so damn in love with Jason. Because he got the full package. Addicting harmony and striking lyrics. So don't blame me if I end up filling this post with quotation from JM musics. hahaha..gotcha..

It takes a thought to make a word
And it takes some words to make an action
It takes some work to make it work
It takes some good to make it hurt
It takes some bad for satisfaction
It takes a night to make it dawn
And it takes some old to make you young
It takes some cold to know the sun
It takes the one to have the other
And it takes no time to fall in love
But it takes you years to know what love is
It takes some fears to make you trust
It takes those tears to make it rust
It takes the dust to have it polished
~Life is Wonderful

I used to think I could sit and wait for the times
but they won't come until I meet them halfway
~Halfway Home

and it's okay if you have go away
just remember the telephone works both ways
and if I never ever hear it ring
if nothing else I'll think the bells inside
have finally found you someone else and that's okay
cause I'll remember everything you sang
~You and I Both

When I fall in love, I take my time
There's no need to hurry when I'm making up my mind
You can turn off the sun, but I'm still gonna shine
And I'll tell you why
Because
The remedy is the experience
This is the dangerous liaison I says
The comedy is that it's serious
This is a strange enough new play on words
I say the tragedy is how you're gonna spend
the rest of your nights with the light on
So shine the light on all of your friends
Well it all amounts to nothing in the end
I won't worry my life away
~The Remedy

We're so worried about saving our souls
Afraid that God will take His toll
That we forget to begin
Who will save your soul when it comes to the flower
Who will save your soul after all the lies that you told, boy
Who will save your soul if you won't save your own?
~Who will Save Your Soul (okay.. this is actually a Jewel song *also my favorite singer* but the hell, she sings a duet version of this song with JM. Live!)

If it's a broken part, replace it
But, if it's a broken heart then brace it
If it's a broken heart then face it
~Details in the Fabric

What a beautiful mess, this is
It's like taking a guess when the only answer is "Yes"
~A Beautiful Mess

I'm (really) yours

If you think life's not fair
Just because everything comes in pair
And you're left all alone
With nothing to hold on
If you think it is such a waste
Just because everybody could not careless
Then you've forgotten that secret of ours
Truth be told I am (really) yours

p.s. Gawd, this kid is soo..cute, doesn't care what words he was singing, he just enjoy the melody&harmony. love it so much!!!^^

Mayang on The Air: 90's Playlist

If we go way back. I mean really really way back when. Like when I was a teenager or ABG (that's what my people call it). Well, you're probably in your early 20s, or late 20s, or 50s, or whatever.. Just remember, remember that day when you feel like Mtv ruled your days. Going straight home just to see Mtv Land *proud that it was hosted by such cool Indonesian vjs* and Most Wanted. Way back when reality shows for Mtv means sending a bunch of teenagers on a road trip to go around the world *instead of some 90210 dramas or some brats spending their father's money for an extravagant sweet 16*. Sending postcards just to get goodies from artist of the month. You even got their hitlist noted in the journal *okay.. this has come to a point where it gets creepy*. Bottom line is.. you just can't live without it. And today, when I was watching StarWorld's ad, they were using a backsound that just triggers the memory. So here comes my 90's playlist, to accompany your late night works.

  1. Suede - She's in Fashion (actually I like positivity better, but since it was not released until the 2000s so I thought better stick with the theme here. heheh..)
  2. Blur - Coffee&TV (those of you who hates this song.. well you gotta be crazy. this is my favorite blur song and music video. seeing that milk carton walking on the street to find love is fun)
  3. Alanis - Ironic (seeing 4 Alanis in a car acting lunatic is better then seeing her half half naked. besides when you feel life's a trick you just turn up this song and by the end of it you just realize that shit just happens)
  4. Lisa Loeb - Stay (everytime this song got shuffled on my ipod, can't help but to repeat it)
  5. Britney - Baby One More Time (hey.. you gotta love her way back when)
  6. Westlife - Flying Without Wings (I remembered knowing all of their songs lyrics by heart
  7. The Moffats (ah..doesn't matter what they're playing, you just loved to watch the TV when their videos were playing. Clint!! ILU!!)
  8. Foo Fighters - Learn To Fly (I used to think that their videos are a bit pornographic, what a fool)
  9. U2 - The Sweetest Thing (oooo... the sweetest thing)
Enjoy!! kenyit

The Final Curtain Call

This is it, this is the final curtain call..

If the concert actually happened in the O2 Arena, if MJ had not died three weeks before, I believe it would be a perfect final curtain call for the king. Okay.. after watching This Is It, now I know what makes MJ a star.. a king.. or whatever worshipping words entitled to him. Not just because he practice and practice. But in every little detail of the concert there was Michael. He was there to audition the dancers. He was there to do the check sound. He was there to concept the stage act. No wonder his tickets sold out, and the concert itself was extended. People would've got what they'd expected. *although sometimes I think he acted too lebay (over the top) when singing without the music accompaniment, stage lights, and dancers. but overall its great!! ^^*
Well, those of you who haven't got the chance to go to the cinema and watch this, I would say hurry!! *I heard it was in cinema only for two weeks* Watching the movie is like watching MJ singing live. At least it would be an antidote to the grievings for a curtain call come to soon.

My World is Full With You

I thought this would be the end of my life
When you told me you're no longer in love with me
I thought (the) sun will never rise again
When you told me everything was over

You make me feel like I was the only girl that you adore
And gave me the sweetest kisses
You showed me how to love unselfishly
And even though there's no love left for me
I just want you to know that I'm missing you

Cause my world is full with you
And my world is full with you
[repeat]

And even though we're not together once again
And I found emptiness living without you
It feel so hard to let you go

Cause my world is full with you
And my world is full with you
[repeat]

My world is full with you - ten 2 five

Note. haha..another song got stuck in my head. well enjoy.. and bunch of hearts for you. cheers ^^

LG Recital @ Salihara

I was really wowed watching that recital at Salihara. I remember the first time I attended LG's recital about 4 or 5 years ago. And I really admire the way he played the piano, absorbing and full of energy. So "IT" happens again, last Saturday. When I heard the news that LG would be holding a recital, I quickly called the ticketing agent, as I know it would be a sold out soon.
And yes the recital worth every penny. Looking at those fingers dancing on the piano, I just want to go straight back home *after watching the recital of course* and start practicing again. What I liked most about the recital is, not only the pianist played old classical songs from the west, but also pieces from Indonesia. And the song I've been waiting for was played: The Dancer, composed by the pianist himself when he was 15 *if I didn't get this wrong*. Even I got a little surprise as my favorite song from Jaya Suprana, "Fragmen" was played during encore. Couldn't help but applauding and screaming for more, if he didn't put down the piano cover, I bet the audience would still be clapping for extra. Well, I guess for those of you who couldn't make it to the recital, you could all enjoy the video below which LG called "Timur dan Barat", a combination of themes from "Cublak2 Suweng" and "Magnificent Seven". Bravissimo!!

Garuda Pancasila

Menyanyikan lagu Garuda Pancasila memang membakar semangat. Pokoknya semangat wae lah..

Mayang's selection of crazy love songs

Berhubung niy… berhubung pada bulan Oktober ini begitu banyak love news in the air (sehingga nyaris mencapai titik suffocating) mulai dari berita pernikahan di sana sini, hingga berita2 euphoria for a succesfull great date (Great weekend!! Great weekend!! hahaha..), maka saya pun memanfaatkan momen ini to share my favorite crazy love songs. Moga-moga dapat membantu paraaficionados dalam menemukan soundtrack of the day-nya.:woooh:
  1. Everything – Michael Buble

Top of the list, it’s just so perfect that nothing could beat it. You can really tell that he truly dedicated this song to his special someone.

“And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times, It's you, it's you, you make me sing. You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.”

  1. Anyone Else But You – Michael Cera + Ellen Page

Love song for the misfits. Gue sarankan untuk mendengar versi Ellen Page daripada versi Moldy Peaches nya, the MP version is good but Ellen Page version is even better. It’s just plain, simple, and real.

“You’re a part time lover and a full time friend. The monkey on your back is the latest trend. I don’t see what anyone can see in anyone else, but you.”

  1. Always Be My Baby – Mariah Carey

“You’ll always be a part of me. I’m part of you

  1. Somebody To Love – Queen

Jauh...Jauh hari sebelum The Rock mencetuskan hits Munajat Cinta, Queen terlebih dahulu berdo’a sama yang di Atas lewat lagu Somebody To Love. Meng-quote dari wiki, this is a song about faith, desperation and soul-searching; the singer questions both the lack of love experienced in his life and the role and existence of God. Buat para jomblo-ers yang terjebak dalam rutinitas, come on, free yourself!! Free yourself!! Bwahahaha..:ahaha:“Ain’t gonna face no defeat. I just gotta get out of this prison cell. Someday I’m gonna be free, Lord! Find me somebody to love. Can anybody find me somebody to love?”

  1. Heaven – Maliq n d’Essentials

Ngomongin Maliq you gotta talk about the whole package. Bukan cuma tema lagu tapi semuanya, aransemennya, variasi nadanya, pokoknya komplit. For me by far, this is the grooviest Indonesian love song you could ever hear.

  1. Someday We’ll Know – Mandy Moore

Hehehe..

  1. Aku Untukmu – Ten2Five ft Rudy Caffein

A nice soundtrack from the movie ‘Me vs High Heels’. A good song for gombal-ing, hehe.. but still a nice one to hear.

  1. Waktu Kan Menjawab – Warna

Kembali saya mem-feature soundtrack dari salah satu film Indonesia yang oke punya, Ca Bau Kan. Bicara tentang Ca Bau Kan sama seperti membicarakan A Walk To Remember, love the book, love the movie, love the soundtrack. Tidak seperti lagu-lagu sebelumnya, this is a less crazy song, mellow tapi tidak merintih-rintih. It’s just sweet and sincere.

  1. Somebody for Someone – The Corrs

Satu lagi lagu munajat cinta dari artis luar negeri. Kalo Queen bermunajat sambil menggebu-gebu sampai mempertanyakan keberadaan Tuhan, The Corrs agak lebih santai dalam menghadapi kenyataan hidup. Relax..Somebody’s gonna make it right. There’s gotta be somebody for someone.

Cuma 9 ya?? Maksa tambah satu lagi deh biar genep 10…

  1. I Will – The Beatles

Wah...bagaimana mungkin saya melupakan lagu ini. This should be in the top five of my list. Tapi gapapa, masih untung inget buat dimasukkin. Hahaha..

Kalo mendengar cerita dibalik lagu ini, you’ll understand why it’s a must song to sing at weddings. It shows how simple love really is..

“Who knows how long I’ve loved you. You know I love you still. Will I wait a lonely lifetime. If you want me to, I will.”

Times of Your Life

Gara-gara Bang Temon ngomongin My Way nya Paul Anka, saya pun kabita pengen ngomongin Times of Your Life nya (juga) Paul Anka. Cuma sayangnya emang lagu ini (sepertinya) kalah populer dibandingkan lagu si My Way ntu..
I guess you're stuck with my version of the video. hehehe..(kalaupun saya menemukan video versi aslinya, rasa2nya juga gak bakal di-upload ke sini..sengihnampakgigi)
Sebelum menyaksikan kompilasi buatan saya, silahkan resapi dan maknai lirik lagu dari Times of Your Life by Paul Anka.
Good morning, yesterday
You wake up and time has slipped away
And suddenly it's hard to find
The memories you left behind
Remember, do you remember?

The laughter and the tears
The shadows of misty yester years
The good times and the bad you've seen
And all the others in between
Remember, do you remember
The times of your life? (do you remember?)

Reach out for the joy and the sorrow
Put them away in your mind
The mem'ries are time that you borrow
To spend when you get to tomorrow

Here comes the saddest part (comes the saddest part)
The seasons are passing one by one
So gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember

The times of your life?

Gather moments while you may
Collect the dreams you dream today
Remember, will you remember
The times of your life?

Of your life
Of your life
Do you remember, baby
Do you remember the times of your life?

Mamma Mia!!

Ngebayangin gue pake baju blink2 penuh glitter, dengan baju ketat dan celana cutbrai..Oh no..I'm not that desperate..penat
Yang menarik, lirik lagunya sama sekali gak membawa jargon "I'll be there for you" seperti kebanyakan lagu2 pop lainnya. Atau lagu I Have A Dream yang beberapa tahun lalu sempet dipopulerin lagi sama weslip (westlife). Take A Chance on Me.
It was really fun to watch this movie.

Gue gak berniat menceritakan jalan ceritanya gimana. Cause i'm afraid it would be a spoiler. Tapi kalo lo tertarik silahkan melihat trailer berikut (video diambil dari youtube). Selamat menikmati!!kenyit

It's Time - Tohpati

nope..am not thinking of writing something mellow about it's time to..bla..bla..bla..
Seriously it was hysterical (in a good way). Bukan..bukan hanya karena gue kesana dengan geng TMDI yang bocor banget, bukan hanya karena gue sukses berfoto dengan tohpati dan indra L (aduh..gue pasti dicap norse sama Kak Ratih, wakakakak..XD), bukan hanya karena how groovy eugene played the sax dan yesaya hit the drums, but the concert itself was great. Kapan lagi siy..lo pulang dari suatu konser, with a melody stuck in your head, and a feeling you gotta buy the CD.
Dan percaya sama gue..beli CD It's Time yang asli, it worth every penny..
p.s. penasaran kan.. (^o^)v
